Hawktail: Place of Growth
Place of Growth, acoustic quartet Hawktail’s third and most conceptual album, is a journey through the natural world—a journey designed for a single sitting. From the weightless joyride of “Updraft” to the reflective daydreaming of “Shallows”, each track sketches its own scenery.

ABOUT PLACE OF GROWTH
The first ideas for “Wanderings” and “Updraft” originated in late 2016. Much of the “Big Sun” lead had been kicking around since late 2017. Two Hawktail albums elapsed while these ideas remained unfinished. When Lena Jonsson challenged the band to “tune-swap” in early 2021, they got a creative jolt. Subsequently they decided to make an album, finishing the aforementioned material. “Shallows” and “Pomegranate in the Oak Tree” arrived just in time during this process.
Accompanying available on Bandcamp:
Limited edition print of “Shallows" from Hawktail’s new album ‘Place of Growth.’ Arrangement by Paul for violin and guitar, art and design by Heather Moulder. A small number feature hand-tinting by Paul (see “Shallows Music Print [hand-tinted]” on the merch page). We’re proud to offer this item.
The third in a series of Padiddle Prints, this is in the style of early 20th century sheet music, letterpress printed on the same 12x18” natural parchtone paper from French Paper Co. that we used for “Four Tunes.”
Includes unlimited streaming of Shallows via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
